DO I NEED A PARTNER?
Preferably. Dancing is a two person pastime, however, singles are welcome if they are prepared to be partnered up with another solo attendee. If this becomes two ladies dancing together then one of you will have to learn the ‘man’s steps. Alternatively, ask around your wide circle of friends; there must be someone.
DO I JUST TURN UP OR BOOK IN ADVANCE?
Beginners should firstly register their interest on the form provided on this site. You will always be contacted when the next course begins. Those with some experience should talk to us first or go to our Strictly Practice session for us to see how good you are, we will then advise you on which class to join .
WHAT SHALL I WEAR?
Just comfortable clothes and shoes. No welly boots or bikinis; trainers are not good either.
WHAT DO WE TEACH?
Our Beginner Classes learn the basic steps of several dances including Social Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha and Jive, which will give you confidence to get up on any dance floor. Further dances and figures will be introduced when appropriate.
WHAT IF MY PARTNER HAS TWO LEFT FEET?
Only our little dog has two left feet! They say if you can walk you can dance. Some people learn slowly, some faster, but everyone will be able to dance something, we don’t teach faster than the class can manage.
ARE YOU QUALIFIED?
Yes, to the highest level. After reaching the top of a competitive career we qualified in the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), Keith to Examiner level. We have also taught, lectured and judged competitions all around the World, including World Championships. You are in safe hands.
DO WE HAVE FUN WHILST WE LEARN?
Absolutely. No need for laughing gas.
I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION. CAN I DANCE?
Only you would know. Dancing is an active sport and requires some physicality so if in doubt please consult your doctor.
